Exploding E-Cigarette Lawsuits Allege Users Suffer Severe Burns From Exploding Ion Lithium Batteries In Electronic Cigarettes.
E-cigarette explosion cases are coming in so “fast and furious” that doctors at the Arizona Burn Center are now documenting them in a medical journal, according to a report in AZCentral.com. At one point, the burn center in Phoenix recorded 12 e-cigarettes-related explosion cases in 12 weeks. Also mounting are the number of exploding e-cigarette lawsuits being filed nationwide on behalf of electronic cigarette users who have suffered chemical burns to their eyes, mouth, neck, and other body parts. The e-cigarette burn lawsuits name the makers and distributors of e-cigarette products as defendants, as well as the retailers that sell them.
“The burn injuries from e-cigarette or e-cigarette battery explosions are not only painful but they are permanent,” says Dr. François Blaudeau, a practicing attorney and physician who founded Southern Med Law because of his strong advocacy for people harmed by defective medical devices, harmful prescription drugs and unsafe consumer products.

cigarette explosions are so severe that patients need multiple skin grafts
Dr. Kevin Foster, chief of burn services at the Arizona Burn Center, said some explosions are so severe that patients need multiple skin grafts. Some e-cigarette explosions occur when people are igniting the device while other explosions occur when the e-cigarette battery explodes in a user’s pant pocket. In one instance, a 17-year-old said she spent three weeks at the burn center and underwent three surgeries and skin grafts after her e-cigarette exploded when she ignited the device.
